My Music
'Ae Mere Dil sada'
I got this song last month. It has just two verses and is based on Psalm 103, one of my favourite Psalms. I recorded it on my laptop with loops from Garage Band, its not an excellent piece of recording. I am putting material together for an album. ;-)
'Dhanya Dhanya Yeshu Tera Naam'
My wife and I translated this song. We love the song in English 'Blessed Be Your Name' it is written by Matt & Beth Redman. It is sung in worship services all over the world and we thought why not try and translate it into Hindi? I then recorded it with some music and here it is. So what do you think?? 'Tuney Mera Naam Pukara ...'
This song is really a gift. It came to me earlier this month and I wrote the two verses on the spot - this has never happened before. I always have the tunes first and then it takes forever to come up with the words. I really like the song, I have repeated the first verse a couple of times, just trying to try out the length etc. it has a little bit of the 8 bar blues to give it the 'rock & roll' feel.
'Aaj Ka Din ...'
This is my latest. Have a listen and let me know what you think. The words for the chorus are from an existing chorus however the song itself is new and hopefully has an entirely different feel - I hope you like it.
'Sijda'
This song was written in 2005 when I was playing with the Band. Actually the tune came out of a jam that we were doing but I could only complete the lyrics and the whole song last year.
'Mera Prabhu Mere Saath Hai'
This is perhaps my first song in Hindi. I had written the chorus of this song a long time ago. I never got any further than that, then finally in 2004 I was able to add the verses and complete the whole song. I used to be playing just the chorus whenever I had a guitar in hand all through my teenage years, so everyone in my family was familiar with the tune. They did not know that it was mine and they never really heard beyond the chorus. So when I had completed the song I played it to my sister and she said 'You know what? I think I have heard the tune somewhere" - funny.
Benz desi broadcast
I was on the radio here in TO on Christmas eve (the audio files are on the Benz desi podcast page ..) It was a pretty cool opportunity to tell the story of Christmas to a larger audience. As far as I can tell it went well, I learnt a lot about radio broadcasting - that its no more than podcasting. I did not go live and opted to pre-record the program. I guess the 'going live' would be the next level experience that I should be looking forward to. Well, praise the Lord for opening a door and here's looking forward to many more opportunities to talk about God's love in 2007.
